Job summary

Martin County West Trimont Elementary is seeking a dedicated Junior High Girls Basketball Coach to lead and develop student-athletes in grades 7–8. You will focus on fundamental basketball skills, teamwork, and a positive learning environment that encourages participation and growth.

The role includes planning practices, teaching shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, and team concepts, supervising games, and collaborating with the Activities Director and school staff to support

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or playing basketball at junior high level.
• Ability to teach fundamental basketball skills and strategies to junior high students.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and school staff.
• Commitment to student-athlete development, sportsmanship, and positive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct organized practices focused on basketball fundamentals, skill development, conditioning, and team concepts.
• Teach proper techniques in shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding, and team play.
• Develop players' individual skills while building teamwork, confidence, and basketball knowledge.
• Promote sportsmanship, respect, discipline, accountability, and a positive team culture.
• Supervise and coach athletes during practices and games.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, coaching staff, and the Activities Director.
• Emphasize player development, participation, and a positive experience for all athletes.
• Ensure student-athlete safety and follow appropriate injury-prevention and supervision procedures.
• Maintain and properly care for team equipment and facilities.
• Follow all Martin County West Schools, Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), and applicable conference policies and procedures.
• Serve as a positive role model and representative of Martin County West Schools.

Position Overview

Martin County West Schools is seeking a motivated and dedicated Junior High Girls Basketball Coach to lead and develop student-athletes in grades 7–8. The successful candidate will focus on teaching fundamental basketball skills, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, and creating a positive learning environment that encourages participation, skill development, and a love for the game.
