COMPENSATION

Base Pay $16.59per hour
HOURS: 15 Hours a Week Mon-Thurs
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 9Month

FUNCTION

The Instructional Aide assists one or more teachers in specialized activities pertaining to instruction, preparation, management and/or supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 2. Demonstrated aptitude (i.e. bilingualism, computer literacy) for the work to be performed.
  • 3. Course work and/or knowledge of basic education theory and methodology as it relates to duties of the position.
  • 4. Familiarity with pertinent program requirements, compliance issues etc.
  • 5. Ability to work independently and cooperatively to organize and deliver supplemental programs of study in support of regular and/or special education programs.
  • 6. Ability to relate cordially with staff and students.
  • 7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
RELATED PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • 1. Moderate, and often continuous, noise levels.
  • 2. Close vision and focusing requirements.
  • 3. Continuous responsibility for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
  • 4. Occasional stooping, bending, climbing, outdoor supervision.
  • 5. Lifting, maneuvering, placing loads (25-30 lbs.) i.e., records, supplies, etc.
  • 6. Sitting/standing/monitoring students for extended periods of time.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 1. Coordinate with teachers in developing supplemental instructional programs and devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills, based on an understanding of individual students' needs, interests and abilities.
  • 2. Plan, organize and complete duties applicable to the position.
  • 3. Prepare materials for specialized instructional activities.
  • 4. Supervise activities of students; maintain discipline and other functions as appropriate.
  • 5. Work as a "team player" with all participants in the educational community.
  • 6. Supervise independent study, enrichment work and remedial work.
  • 7. Evaluate student progress; recommend areas of improvement.
  • 8. Orient teachers to problems or special information about individual students as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality.
  • 9. Maintain records; handle reports and clerical functions related to the position.
  • 10. Maintain an attractive and stimulating learning environment.
  • 11. Operate standard school equipment.
  • 12. Participate in staff meetings.
  • 13. Perform other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Hourly wages, Working Agreement. Salary as determined by the Board of Education.
Annual evaluation in accordance with Board of Education policy.
