Job summary

University of California, Berkeley Law is seeking an Associate Director of J.D. Admissions for Outreach and Recruitment to develop and implement outreach, recruitment, and admissions programs for prospective JD students.

The role partners with campus units, pre-law organizations, and external partners to broaden the applicant pool and promote diversity in the JD program. The position supports events such as Admitted Student Weekend, visits, and diversity initiatives, and oversees pre-law

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
• Ability to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures.
• Strong advising and counseling skills with comprehensive knowledge of Berkeley Law’s programs.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions.
• Ability to develop recruitment programs, and design effective materials.
• Analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and ability to handle ambiguity.
• Ability to explain the law school experience and admissions requirements to prospective applicants.
• Political acumen to collaborate across the organization and external partners.
• Excellent computer skills with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; quick to learn new systems.
• Willingness to travel nationally for outreach and recruitment events (up to 10%).

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements outreach, recruitment, and admissions programs for JD applicants.
• Markets, manages, and evaluates pre-law outreach initiatives and partnerships.
• Supports diversity initiatives and outreach partnerships, including events like Open House.
• Plans engagement activities with campus units and pre-law student groups.
• Organizes and participates in advisory conferences and events to disseminate information about the JD program.
