Job summary

Berkeley Law seeks an Associate Director of JD Admissions for Outreach and Recruitment to design and execute programs that attract a diverse applicant pool, oversee pre-law outreach, and support outreach partnerships.

Reporting to the Director of JD Admissions, this role coordinates events, reviews applications with professional judgment, and collaborates with campus partners to enhance recruitment, advising, and program evaluation.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
• Ability to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
• Strong advising and counseling skills with knowledge of Berkeley Law admissions.
• Ability to establish cooperative relationships with schools, universities, and community organizations.
• Ability to develop recruitment programs and design effective materials.
• Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to explain the law school experience and admission requirements.
• Political acumen to build cross-institutional relationships.
• Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to travel nationally for outreach and recruitment (up to 10%).

Responsibilities

• Provide information on admissions requirements and processes via phone, email, and in person.
• Facilitate information sessions and virtual programming for prospective applicants.
• Plan engagement events such as Fall Open House and orientation programs.
• Collaborate with undergraduate/graduate students and pre-law groups to increase engagement.
• Partner with pre-law organizations across California and universities for outreach.
• Maintain online Diversity and Admitted Student websites.
• Develop marketing materials with Communications to raise program awareness.
• Disseminate information through email, social media, webinars, blogs, newsletters.
• Attend pre-law advisor conferences to share information about the program.
• Coordinate recruitment events, yield activities, and Admitted Student Weekend.
• Oversee the Admitted Student Website and pre-law program budget.
• Plan and evaluate outreach programs; track outcomes and data.
• Collaborate with campus partners to support diversity initiatives.
