Job summary

Synechron is seeking a Java Technology Manager in Piscataway, NJ to lead the design, development and delivery of enterprise-scale applications. You will guide distributed teams, set architectural direction, and ensure secure, scalable cloud-native solutions across microservices and REST APIs.

The role requires 12+ years of software engineering, 3-5+ years of leadership, and strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS/Azure. Onsite/offshore delivery experience is valued.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3-5+ years leading engineering teams and technical delivery.
  • Should be conversant with AWS and AI.
  • Should have worked in an onsite/offshore model.
  • Should have delivered mid to large-size projects.
  • Retirement domain knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.

We are looking for a Java Technology Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale applications. This role combines technical leadership, team management, solution architecture, and delivery ownership to build scalable, secure, and high-performing digital solutions.

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with strong expertise in Microservices, Cloud (AWS/Azure), and Agile delivery, capable of guiding distributed teams while partnering closely with business and technology stakeholders.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.

In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Piscataway, NJ is $125K-$135K /year & benefits (see below).

Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
  • Lead solution design, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making.
  • Drive best practices in software engineering, code quality, security, and performance.
  • Guide teams in developing cloud-native applications, APIs, and microservices.
  • Mentor engineers and technical leads on architecture, design patterns, and modern engineering practices.
Delivery Management
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of multiple projects and releases.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to prioritize work and meet business objectives.
  • Track delivery progress, dependencies, risks, and resource utilization.
  • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery within scope and budget.
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support hiring, performance management, and career development initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between engineering teams and business stakeholders.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Build strong client and cross-functional relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Promote continuous improvement through metrics, retrospectives, and innovation initiatives.
Requirements:
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3-5+ years leading engineering teams and technical delivery.
  • Should be conversant with AWS and AI
  • Should have worked in an onsite/offshore model
  • Should have delivered mid to large-size projects
  • Retirement domain knowledge will be a big plus
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
