Job summary

NS2 Mission in Chantilly, VA seeks a Software Developer with strong Java expertise and a background in astrodynamics to join our engineering team working on SDA I&W systems for space domain awareness. You will participate in all lifecycle stages, from design to production support, and contribute to microservices using Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Strong software development experience with Java including Spring framework.
• Experience or academic background in astrodynamics (orbital mechanics, space object tracking, propagation).
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, and distributed data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative mission-focused environment.
• Good communication skills for written and spoken requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software components in Java and Spring.
• Apply astrodynamics knowledge to develop SDA mission software requirements.
• Build, test, and deploy microservices in Docker and Kubernetes.
• Work with MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, and messaging with ActiveMQ and Kafka.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, data scientists, and mission experts to deliver high-quality solutions.
