Job summary

NS2 Mission in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Senior Software Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications in an Agile environment. You will build scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and front-end features with Angular as part of a cross-functional team.

The role requires 6–10 years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, SQL databases, and Linux/Unix. Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills are essential to deliver reliable software for national security

We're seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our team in Chantilly, VA, where you'll design, develop, and enhance enterprise Java applications in a collaborative Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise software applications using Java and modern development frameworks.
• Build scalable backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot to support mission-critical capabilities.
• Develop and integrate RESTful web services that enable communication across distributed systems and applications.
• Design, develop, and optimize database solutions using SQL and relational database technologies.
• Develop user-facing functionality using JavaScript and Angular while collaborating with UI/UX and backend development teams.
• Work closely with systems engineers, architects, and product stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot software defects, improve application performance, and implement enhancements that increase system reliability and maintainability.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, peer code reviews, technical design discussions, and sprint planning activities.
• Support software testing, deployment, and sustainment efforts while contributing to CI/CD and automation initiatives.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and software engineering best practices to continuously improve development processes and application quality.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Around 6-10 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience developing enterprise applications using Java.
• Experience with Spring Boot or similar Java application frameworks.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL.
• Experience developing front-end applications using JavaScript and Angular.
• Experience working in Linux/Unix development environments.
• Familiarity with Git, version control, Agile methodologies, and modern software development practices.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing microservices-based applications.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application development.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools.
• Experience using build automation tools such as Maven or Gradle.
