Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Java Software Engineer for the Space Domain who will support SSA data processing and distribution from Aurora, CO or Herndon, VA. The role focuses on sustaining existing mission systems, improving reliability, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure mission continuity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master's with 4+ years.
• Minimum Top Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and polygraph.
• 2+ years of Java in production/enterprise environments.
• 1+ years of microservices and containerization experience (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with Spring/Spring Boot and REST APIs.
• Experience administering Linux or Windows servers.
• DoD 8570 certification such as Security+ or CISSP within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide TS/SCI Java software sustainment and maintenance for existing mission systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across modules and interfaces.
• Maintain and patch existing Java applications for security and compatibility.
• Support software analysis, integration, and configuration management in deployed environments.
• Monitor application health using logs and monitoring tools.
• Assist deployment, release, and environment management across environments.
• Adhere to secure coding practices and change management controls.
• Develop technical documentation and runbooks for sustainment and operations.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operations teams for mission continuity.
