Job description

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will work within the Middle Office Core Platform Organization to drive product development and modernization initiatives. You are a builder with a deep understanding of the tools and technologies needed to build products that deliver real business outcomes and put the customer first. You will be responsible for designing and programming modules ranging from small components to larger systems, as well as designing individual features or full feature sets.

Responsibilities:

• Engage in technical discussions, participate in technical design sessions, and present ideas through whiteboarding
• Work closely with peers in a fast-paced technical design and development environment
• Operate in a fast-paced delivery mode, focused on completing tasks that support product release goals
• Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing, and automated quality checks
• Understand the broader product and how its modules interrelate, while serving as the expert on your assigned component
• Help design interfaces and information exchange between modules
• Bring advanced domain knowledge and strong customer focus; be skilled in build, release, and deployment processes
• Advocate for scalability and emphasize the importance of quality through testing
• Write code that meets high standards and delivers the intended functionality using the chosen technology for the project

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, or 5 years with a Master's degree, or 2 years with a PhD

Technical Requirements :

• Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, software design patterns, and coding principles
• Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and development, and databases such as Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, PostgreSQL, etc.
• 7+ years of experience in Java (Spring Framework) and/or Go
• Python scripting experience preferred
• Experience with Service Mesh, Containers, and Kubernetes technologies preferred
• Hands-on experience building cloud-based software using cloud and open-source technologies/frameworks preferred
• Experience building scalable, highly available distributed systems
• Experience assessing and improving application performance through design and best coding practices
• Strong grasp of core data structures and algorithms, with the ability to implement them in the language of choice
• Experience with a public cloud platform (AWS or Azure) preferred
• Experience with agile software development
