Job summary

Berkley Technology Services (BTS), part of W. R. Berkley Corporation, is seeking a Software Development Intern for June 2027 in Urbandale, IA. You’ll work on a Java-based policy administration platform, gaining exposure to the full stack from requirements through deployment.

You’ll learn and contribute across Java, Spring, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, and APIs while supporting agile development and production issue triage. This internship offers flexible work arrangements and a casual dress code.

Qualifications

• At least two years of college coursework in Computer Science or MIS with programming focus.
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages; Java preferred; Python/C++/C#/VB.NET also considered.
• Strong problem solving and customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Support and execute product enhancement requests for the proprietary underwriting platform.
• Gain hands-on experience across the software development cycle from requirements to deployment.
• Work with Java, Spring, JavaScript, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, RESTful and SOAP APIs to connect requests to features.
• Triage and troubleshoot production issues with end-users to resolve problems.
• Assist with software release planning and observe code changes migrate through the process.
• Participate in Agile development projects and learn additional practices used by the team.
