Job summary

Wissen Technology in Menlo Park seeks an experienced Associate/AVP for a Java or Python engineering role. The position is hybrid, with three days on site and two remote days, and follows a Monday–Friday schedule.

You will design, develop, and optimize high‑performance software for major clients. Applicants should have 5+ years of software design and development in Windows, Linux, and Unix, plus strong Java/Python and DB skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software design and development.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, C, C++, Go, Perl, SQL, and Shell scripting.
• Hands-on experience with Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms.
• Relational databases such as Sybase, Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Helm.
• Design of high-performance, scalable transaction-processing systems.
• Knowledge of SDLC and software development methodologies.
• Experience with distributed systems and enterprise applications.
• Knowledge of AI/ML technologies is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance and scalable software applications.
• Develop complex algorithms and implement efficient solutions for challenging technical problems.
• Design and develop distributed, transaction-processing systems with a focus on performance and scalability.

• Participate throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Perform performance testing, profiling, troubleshooting, and tuning of distributed applications.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate technical solutions and challenges effectively.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding and design standards.
• Work with DevOps teams on containerization, orchestration, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
• Contribute to technical documentation, design discussions, and presentations.
• Work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional and distributed teams.

Required Technical Skills

• 5+ years of experience in software design and development.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, C, C++, Go/Golang, Perl, SQL, and Shell scripting.
• Hands-on experience with Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, including Sybase, Oracle, DB2, and PostgreSQL.
• Strong experience with Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Helm.
• Experience designing high-performance and scalable transaction-processing systems.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design and development methodologies.
• Experience developing complex algorithms and solving technical problems.
• Hands-on experience in performance testing, profiling, and tuning of distributed applications.
• Good understanding of SDLC and software development methodologies.
• Experience working with distributed systems and enterprise applications.
• Knowledge of AI/ML technologies is preferred.
