Job summary

Robotics Technologies LLC in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a backend engineer to design architecture and build MCP servers, tools, APIs, and data integration services enabling secure, efficient data access for AI agents and applications.

You will work with Java, Spring Boot, Python, REST APIs, microservices, and data platforms like Starburst/Trino to deliver scalable solutions, ensure security, and integrate with downstream systems.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on development with Java, Spring Boot and Python.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices and reusable integration components.
• Strong SQL skills and data platform experience (Starburst/Trino).
• Secure, high-performance data access services for AI agents.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization and API security.
• Proficient with Git, CI/CD, automated testing and containerization.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions; knowledge of LLMs and MCP preferred.

Role Description:

Designs the architecture and develops reusable MCP servers, tools, APIs, and data integration services to enable secure and efficient consumption of curated data by AI agents and applications.

Core Skills & Experience:

• Strong hands-on development experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Python for building scalable backend services and applications.
• Experience designing solution architectures, RESTful APIs, microservices, and reusable integration components, with the ability to apply these skills to MCP server and tool development.
• Strong SQL skills and experience integrating applications with relational databases and data platforms, preferably Starburst/Trino.
• Experience building secure, high-performance data access services to query and expose curated data to downstream applications and AI agents.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Strong software engineering practices, including Git, CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and containerization.
• Ability to collaborate with architects, data engineers, and application teams to translate business requirements into scalable, reusable technical solutions. Preferred / Added Advantage
• Understanding of LLMs, agentic AI architectures, tool calling, and MCP, with the ability to support data agent development.
