Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Senior Java Developer for the Thinkorswim Performance Engineering team in Southlake, TX. You will independently plan and deliver performance and resiliency initiatives for a Java-based trading platform, focusing on latency, scalability, and reliability.

The role requires 5+ years in Java/J2EE, Spring stack, Linux, and diagnostics of JVM issues, with a contract-to-hire path and onsite expectation of 4 days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering.
• 5+ years of Java and J2EE development experience with Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
• 5+ years of experience with distributed systems, real-time processing, relational DBs, and messaging systems.
• Linux background with shell scripting experience.
• Strong diagnostics for JVM issues and deep understanding of concurrency.

Responsibilities

• Code performance test scripts in Core Java to support performance and resiliency initiatives.
• Develop and maintain Unix shell and Python-based framework components used for performance testing.
• Create custom tooling, including mock services, and maintain a tool repository for repeatable test execution.
• Gather and analyze performance requirements with project owners and translate findings into actionable code and design recommendations.
• Monitor application behavior during tests and production support, identify code-level performance bottlenecks.

Our client is seeking a Java Developer - Senior to join the thinkorswim® Performance Engineering team. As a Java Developer - Senior, I will independently plan and deliver performance and resiliency initiatives for a Java-based trading platform, with a focus on latency, scalability, reliability, and resiliency. I’ll build workloads and tools, identify code and system bottlenecks, and recommend improvements across client, server, gateway, infrastructure, and cloud environments.

Job Title: Java Developer - Senior

Location: Southlake, TX (Ann Arbor, MI is a backup option)

Pay Range: $65-$68/hr

What’s the Job?

• Code performance test scripts in Core Java to support performance and resiliency initiatives.

• 5+ years of Java and J2EE (client and server side) development experience, including Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
• 5+ years of experience with distributed systems/software, real-time processing, relational database systems, and messaging systems.
• Linux background with experience in shell scripting.
• Strong diagnostic skills, including troubleshooting JVM issues (e.g., thread dumps, garbage collection, and memory management) and deep understanding of concurrency and multi-threading.
