Job description

What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Java Developer - Markets Post Trade in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):

  • Develop and Enhance Big Data System using Java and related technologies.
  • Write shell scripts that process files or execute Java, Scala, Spark programs written for Big Data Processing and regular processing.
  • Participate in requirement analysis, Agile Scrum Methodology, and regular application code review sessions.
  • Analyze and transform very high volume of real time XML messages received over IBM Message Queues (MQ).
  • Implement data ingestion solutions from various sources and processes using Big Data technologies which involve data transformation, filtering and loading into HDFS and HBase.
  • Design and implement static code analysis and code coverage solution using SonarQube, JaCoCo, Maven and TeamCity.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to understand and analyze impacts due to trade data, feeds and financial impact on the business.
  • Provide retrieval mechanisms for both live data-in-rest.
  • Participate in requirement analysis and effort estimation.
  • May telecommute pursuant to company policy [Hybrid]

Minimum Salary: $189,592 per year

Maximum Salary: $195,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
