Job summary

FHLB Des Moines is seeking a Software Developer to join the application development team. You will design and develop technical solutions in support of key initiatives, writing clean Java code and collaborating with business partners to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Work with senior team members and be part of a continuous improvement culture. You will contribute to unit tests, documentation, and understanding regulatory requirements in the financial industry. Hybrid work is common for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS or related field, or 3+ years in software development.
• Experience developing software using Java, Angular, SQL, Bootstrap, and Git.
• Experience with Java open source frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, and JUnit.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented design, architecture, TDD, and SDLC.
• Experience with automated tests, builds, and integrations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable sharing ideas and collaborating.

Responsibilities

• Create well-written, efficient Java code for various applications.
• Support existing applications and respond to incidents, problems, and service requests.
• Apply a continuous improvement mindset to methodologies and technologies.
• Collaborate with business partners to ensure requirements and quality are met.
• Document and comment code for clarity and maintenance.

• Provide analysis and support for vendor‑developed applications.
