Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking a Java Developer to join our team in New Jersey. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based backend applications and building scalable services with Spring Boot.

You will develop RESTful APIs, optimize queries, and collaborate with QA, DevOps, and UI teams to deliver secure, well-documented code across environments. A strong foundation in OOP and modern Java is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Java development (Java 8+).
• 3+ years with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
• 5+ years of OOP concepts, data structures, and design patterns.
• 3+ years developing RESTful web services.
• 3+ years with SQL and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• 2+ years of ORM like Hibernate / JPA.
• 2+ years of Git version control experience.

We are currently seeking a Java Developer to join our team in New Jersey, New Jersey (US-NJ), United States (US).

Day to Day job Duties

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java‑based backend applications

• Work with frameworks such as Spring / Spring Boot to build scalable services

• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs

• Write clean, efficient, and well‑documented code following coding standards

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including QA, DevOps, and UI developers

• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance optimization

• Work with relational databases to design and optimize queries

• Support application deployment and troubleshooting in lower environments

• Adhere to secure coding practices and quality standards

Basic Requirements

• 5+ years of demonstrated proficiency in Java development (Java 8 or above)

• 3+ years of experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot

• 5+ years of OOP concepts, data structures, and/or design patterns

• 3+ years of experience in developing RESTful web services

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with SQL and/or relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)

• 2+ years of experience with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate / JPA

• 2+ years of version control systems (Git) experience

Tools & Technologies

• Build tools: Maven or Gradle

• IDEs: IntelliJ IDEA / Eclipse

• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines

• Familiarity with application servers (Tomcat, etc.)

• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus

• Basic knowledge of Docker or containerization is an added advantage

Soft Skills

• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills

• Good communication and teamwork abilities

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies

• Ability to work in an Agile/Scrum environment

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Nice to Have

• Experience in MessagePoint

• Demonstrated experienc with microservices architecture

• Experience with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)

• Basic understanding of front‑end technologies (React/Angular) is a bonus

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $99,350-$119,220. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position in the United States. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
