Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Java Developer to support enterprise applications, APIs, and cloud services. The role blends hands-on Java development with AWS, microservices, and containerized environments.

You’ll work across codebases, build integrations, and collaborate with technical and business teams on secure, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will have Java/J2EE, API design, SQL with Hibernate/JPA, and experience deploying in AWS using Docker and Kubernetes, plus CI/CD and IaC practices.

Job description

We're looking for a Java Developer to support the development and maintenance of enterprise applications, APIs, and cloud-based services. This role combines hands-on Java development with AWS, microservices, and containerized environments. The ideal candidate is comfortable working within established codebases, building integrations, and collaborating across technical and business teams. Experience with identity and access management, security controls, and access validation is also valuable.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain enterprise applications and mid-tier services using Java/J2EE, EJB, and related technologies.
• Design, build, and consume RESTful or GraphQL APIs while supporting microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Work with relational databases, SQL, and ORM frameworks such as Hibernate and JPA.
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot applications in AWS environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code practices, application testing, and release regression activities.
• Collaborate with business, technology, and delivery teams to translate requirements into maintainable technical solutions.
• Support identity and access management processes, including role and privilege structures, access validation, audit reporting, and segregation-of-duties (SoD) remediation.

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, EJB, annotation processing, code generation, and integrating with legacy codebases.
• Experience designing and developing APIs, microservices, and message-driven solutions using technologies such as Kafka or SQS.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL, along with Hibernate or JPA.
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, EKS, ECS, S3, Secrets Manager, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills, with experience working in Agile environments and independently managing deliverables.
• Knowledge of identity lifecycle processes, access controls, security auditing, role-based access, and access validation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Kiro, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms.
