Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Software Developer for a long-term W2 contract in Colorado. You will follow the full software development lifecycle, design and implement solutions, and participate in architecture and code reviews.

5+ years of experience and strong Java skills are required; DOE and benefits are provided. As a Brooksource consultant, you’ll work full-time with our client, with comprehensive benefits and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Proficient in at least one language, specifically Java, and able to learn others.
• Experience designing RESTful services and APIs.
• Data modeling with MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Kafka messaging system.
• CI/CD, version control, and cloud familiarity (Containers, Kubernetes).
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Security and performance awareness in development.

Responsibilities

• Follow the software development lifecycle to design, code, configure, test, debug and document system and application programs.
• Assist in preparing technical design specifications based on requirements and analysis.
• Review functional requirements, design documents and provide feedback.
• Collaborate with other development staff to achieve quality and consistency.
• Participate in architecture, design and code reviews and maintain documentation.

Engagement: Long-term W2 Contract (Potential extension and/or FTE)

Rate: $100,000-$120,000 (DOE)

As a Brooksource consultant working directly with our client, you will be a W2 employee with full-time 40-hour work week. Comprehensive benefits (health, vision, dental), paid holidays, & sick time accrual is available to all employees on contract. Upon (in case of) FTE conversion, the client's benefits package will take over.

Software Developer Description

Follows company software development lifecycle to design, code, configure, test, debug, and document system and application programs. Assists in preparing technical design specifications based on functional requirements and analysis documents. Reviews functional requirements, analysis and design documents and provide feedback. Collaborates with other development staff to achieve quality and consistency. Participates in architecture, design and code reviews. Develops and maintains operational and system level documentation. 5+ years of experience.

Technical skills

• Deep proficiency in at least one language/stack, specifically Java, plus comfort picking up others
• System and API design, able to design a component or service, knowledge of RESTful web services and API development
• Data modeling and database work (schema design, query performance, understanding of MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL)
• Experience with messaging system like kafka
• Testing discipline with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Debugging and production troubleshooting, including reading logs, metrics, and traces
• CI/CD, version control workflows, and basic cloud/infrastructure familiarity (Containers, Kubernetes)
• Security and performance awareness baked into normal work
• Code review — gives substantive feedback and raises the quality bar for others
• Nice to have experience with Camunda BPMM

• Ability to take an ambiguous problem and drives it to a solution without handholding
• Weighs speed vs. quality vs. maintainability and can defend the call
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
