Job summary

Computer Enterprises, Inc. (CEI) seeks a Back Java Developer to join the Client's team in Columbia, SC. This long-term contract supports EMS, MRTS, and POETs with a focus on Java and Oracle DB updates.

The role operates on a hybrid schedule (onsite 3 days/week in Columbia, SC; remote 2 days/week). Local W-2 candidates only. Must thrive in a SCRUM environment and deliver high-quality code.

Back Java Developer

Application Development Columbia , South Carolina Contract Hybrid Oct 1, 2026

Computer Enterprises, Inc. (CEI) is seeking a talented Java Developer to join our Client's dynamic team.

Job at a glance:

• This is a long-term contract, with an initial term of 6months, planned for extension with the potential forpermanent placement
• Pay rate is $65-$69/hr W2 + eligible to sign up for benefits(Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k) on day 1
• Hybrid position, onsite 3 days/wk in Columbia, SC and remote 2 days/wk

About The Team:

• The CMRS team consists of 3 smaller SCRUM teams of roughly 7 people each
• Currently working on enhancements as required by CMS, production issues and other new features
• Work consists of roughly 80% technical debt and production issues and 20% new work on existing applications

Day to Day:

• Responsible for Java development and Oracle DB updates for the EMS application, as well as maintenance and support of the MRTS, IRR and POETs applications.
• Responsible for analysis, design, programming, and implementation of the most complex applications tasks and projects in the area.
• Devise feasible, logical procedures to resolve business problems through the use of computer resources.
• Formulate scope and objectives through research to develop or modify complex systems.
• Provide technical direction and support in the development and support of business systems software and procedures.
• Design, code, test and debug the most complex application programs.
