Sony Interactive Entertainment in Madison, WI is seeking a Software Engineer II with strong Java experience to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services powering PlayStation Network and digital services.

You will work with Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native deployments in AWS, contributing to CI/CD and high-availability systems used by millions of users across devices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience with Java-based backend systems.
• Strong experience with Java 17+; Java 21 experience is a plus.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, or related Java frameworks.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with SQL and database design; writing efficient queries.
• Experience with automated testing (JUnit or similar).
• Experience using Git or other source control systems.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix-based development environments.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum software development practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance APIs, microservices, and platform components for PlayStation Network.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features for commerce, subscriptions, identity, and content.
• Write clean, secure, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services.
• Create and execute unit, integration, and automated tests (JUnit, Mockito, Test containers).
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases and optimize queries.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Operate cloud-native apps in AWS, containers, and Kubernetes-based platforms.
