Job summary

Ascendion is seeking a skilled Backend/API Developer for an onsite role in Manhattan, NY. You will design, implement, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs, build scalable microservices, and integrate diverse systems through secure APIs.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience with modern backend frameworks, strong SQL skills, API security knowledge, and hands-on Docker/Kubernetes experience. Join a culture focused on opportunity and innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/IT or related field.
• 3+ years of backend/API development and integration.
• Experience with Spring Boot, ASP.NET Core, Express.js, FastAPI, Micronaut, or Quarkus.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, and OpenID Connect.
• Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI for API docs.
• Git and CI/CD pipelines experience.
• Docker and Kubernetes experience; cloud familiarity (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Proficiency in Agile/Scrum environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Build scalable microservices using modern backend frameworks.
• Integrate enterprise applications, databases, and third-party platforms via APIs.
• Develop secure APIs using OAuth 2.0, JWT, OpenID Connect.
• Create and maintain API documentation with Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Optimize API performance, availability, and reliability.
• Deploy and maintain applications using CI/CD pipelines.
• Work in Docker and Kubernetes containerized environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the SDLC.
