Job summary

Pacific Advisory Service is seeking a detail-oriented Japanese bilingual Freight Operations & Customer Service Coordinator to support daily freight forwarding at our Chicago-area office. You will prepare shipment documents, create shipment files, prepare invoices, track shipments, and communicate with airlines and trucking companies to ensure smooth cargo movement.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable handling multiple tasks.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and follow-up skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or customer service is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
• Japanese language skills.

Responsibilities

• Print and prepare necessary shipping documents each morning.
• Create and maintain files for individual shipments.
• Prepare customer invoices and assist with billing activities.
• Track shipments and monitor cargo status.
• Communicate with airlines and trucking companies regarding shipment arrangements, status updates, and delivery schedules.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide shipment updates as needed.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation.
• Assist with additional operational and administrative tasks as needed, including taking on extra responsibilities as familiarity with the role and daily workload allow.
