Major Function

The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day custodial operations, ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and overall facility appearance. The supervisor supports the goal of maintaining high standards of cleanliness while being efficient and cost-effective. They supervise custodial staff, coordinate cleaning schedules, monitor tasks, and ensure all cleaning methods meet standards. Additionally, they assist in staff training and ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness protocols.

Job Responsibilities

1. Supervise the use and maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies, including vacuum cleaners, floor machines, and cleaning products; ensure smooth daily operations.
2. Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and materials to meet the facility's needs.
3. Coordinate and monitor custodial staff activities, ensuring tasks are completed per organizational standards and schedules.
4. Maintain records related to custodial operations and staff tasks.
5. Assist with hiring, training, and developing custodial staff, fostering continuous improvement.
6. Support quality assurance and control processes to uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards.
7. Conduct routine inspections of facilities to ensure cleanliness and address issues promptly.
8. Promote a positive working environment by demonstrating leadership and upholding safety and service standards.
9. Address facility cleanliness concerns promptly to provide excellent customer service.
10. Implement custodial programs effectively to meet client and operational needs.

Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, And Education And/or Experience)

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Facility Management, Business Administration, or related field.
2. 3-5 years of custodial experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Strong knowledge of cleaning methods and floor care.
4. Proven leadership and management skills for a custodial team.
5. Detail-oriented with the ability to address cleanliness or maintenance issues promptly.
6. Effective communication skills with staff, management, clients, and customers.
7. Ability to prioritize, adapt to change, and manage multiple demands.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to customer service.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
2. Attention to detail, organization, and physical ability to work in various positions including standing, sitting, walking, bending, and repetitive movements.
