Job summary

Harvard Maintenance is seeking a Field Supervisor to oversee janitorial operations across multiple buildings in New York. You will manage a team of porters and matrons, assign tasks, train staff, and ensure safety and quality standards.

The role requires at least 2 years in a supervisory janitorial position, strong leadership, and bilingual communication. Work hours are Monday to Friday with on-site responsibilities and a focus on client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a janitorial supervisory or lead role.
• Bilingual ability required.
• Experience with forklift and floor care equipment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Tech-savvy; able to schedule/report via smartphones/tablets.
• Flexible hours and reliable availability.

A day in the life

The Field Supervisor's primary focus will be to service the existing business, operationally and financially, while maintaining relationships with existing customers and developing new business where possible. This person will oversee janitorial operations across multiple buildings, ensuring high-quality cleaning standards, managing staff, and maintaining client satisfaction.

• Oversee and support a team of porters and matrons, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and service.
• Assign cleaning tasks and special projects based on operational needs.
• Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure all work meets Harvard and client standards.
• Train new and current staff members in best cleaning practices and safety protocols.
• Ensure all team members use proper safety equipment and follow established safety procedures.
• Manage inventory by ordering and distributing cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Review and process work tickets for task completion and accountability.
• Perform routine maintenance and checks on general cleaning equipment.
• Supervise and coordinate daily cleaning operations to deliver exceptional results.
• Must be bilingual
• Previous experience in the janitorial field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Janitorial Supervisory or Lead role
• Experiiece and knowledge on using a forklift, stripping and waxing, auto scrubbing machines and ride on machines.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment
• Ability to train staff, conduct inspections, and ensure safety compliance
• Tech-savvy; able to use smartphones/tablets for scheduling and reporting
• Organized, reliable, and able to work flexible hours
