Aerotek is seeking a Janitorial Lead (Custodian Supervisor) to oversee custodial operations at an on-site daycare inside an automotive manufacturing facility. You will supervise staff, conduct daily cleaning, ensure sanitization, and manage inventory using basic computer skills.
You will use Excel and Word for reporting, handle supply ordering, and coordinate work orders. Two shifts are available: 6:00 am–3:00 pm and 4:00 pm–1:00 am. This is a contract-to-hire, on-site position in Toney, AL.
This role leads custodial operations for an on-site daycare located within an automotive manufacturing facility. You oversee daily cleaning activities, support and guide custodial staff on your shift, and ensure all child care spaces remain safe, sanitized, and well maintained. You use basic computer skills to manage communication, documentation, and inventory while working hands-on alongside the team.
Supervise and lead custodial staff on either the first shift (6:00 am – 3:00 pm) or second shift (4:00 pm – 1:00 am).
Perform and oversee daily cleaning of daycare areas, including classrooms, child care equipment, bathrooms, and common areas.
Ensure all surfaces and equipment in the daycare are properly sanitized and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
Carry out general janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, and floor care to keep all areas clean and safe.
Handle housekeeping tasks, including trash removal, restocking supplies, and maintaining orderly spaces.
Use computer skills to send and respond to emails, complete basic documentation, and manage work orders as needed.
Utilize Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word to track tasks, maintain simple records, and support reporting requirements.
Manage and monitor custodial supply inventory, including ordering supplies and ensuring adequate stock levels.
Coordinate and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion of cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Apply supervisory and management skills to assign tasks, monitor performance, and support team members.
Promote a team-oriented environment by working collaboratively and being willing to assist with any cleaning task as needed.
Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines appropriate for a child care environment.
Report any facility issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the appropriate contacts.
Ensure consistent, reliable coverage for assigned shift and support smooth handoff between shifts.
Proven experience in janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping roles with responsibility for cleaning and sanitizing facilities.
Supervisory or lead experience in a custodial, janitorial, or facilities environment.
Ability to perform core janitorial tasks, including cleaning, sweeping, mopping, floor care, and general maintenance.
Strong understanding of sanitizing practices, especially in environments serving children.
Computer literacy with the ability to send emails and use Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Capability to manage and complete work orders accurately and on time.
Inventory management skills, including tracking supplies and ordering as needed.
Effective management and supervisory skills to guide, support, and direct custodial staff.
Willingness to work either first shift (6:00 am – 3:00 pm) or second shift (4:00 pm – 1:00 am) as assigned.
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate and assist wherever needed.
Experience working in a daycare, school, or child care environment.
Familiarity with cleaning child care equipment and high-touch surfaces.
Comfort working in or adjacent to an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities during a shift.
Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and other stakeholders.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Toney, AL.
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
