Job summary

VW International is seeking a Janitor to perform custodial services for the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center (TRACEN) Birmingham campus at 900 Arkadelphia Road, Birmingham, AL.

Responsibilities include sanitizing restrooms, common areas, and ensuring infection control procedures are followed. The role requires 1–2 years of janitorial experience in federal or high-traffic settings, knowledge of CDC cleaning protocols, and the ability to pass a comprehensive background check and immunization

Qualifications

• 1–2 years janitorial/housekeeping in federal or high-traffic environments.
• Knowledge of CDC-aligned cleaning protocols, including biohazard disposal.
• Able to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and comply with site security policies.
• Have or obtain required immunizations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, waiting areas, and other designated areas.
• Dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in hallways, and common areas.
• Collect and dispose of trash and waste properly, following infection control guidelines.
• Restock supplies such as towels, toilet paper, soap, and other essential items in public areas, and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, notifying the supervisor when items need to be replenished.
• Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed to the appropriate department for prompt resolution.
• Follow standard procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous materials and adhering to infection control practices.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of special events or meetings as required.
• Adhere to all safety precautions and protocols while performing duties to ensure the well‑being of patients, staff, and visitors.

What You’ll Do

The Janitor performs scheduled custodial services for the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Training Center (TRACEN) Birmingham Southern campus located at 900 Arkadelphia Road, Birmingham, AL, 35254.

• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, waiting areas, and other designated areas.
• Dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in hallways, and common areas.
• Collect and dispose of trash and waste properly, following infection control guidelines.
