Job summary

Related Management Company is seeking a reliable Janitor/Porter to maintain a clean, welcoming environment for residents and guests in a luxury living setting in New York. You will handle grounds and common areas, cleaning and detailing, basic maintenance, and concierge support, contributing to an exceptional living experience.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of janitorial experience, are able to lift up to 50 lbs, work with cleaners, and show strong time management and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of janitor, cleaner, or porter experience.
• Must be reliable and have experience working with cleaning chemicals.
• Must be a team player and be able to work with little supervision.
• Excellent time management skills and work ethic needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and be able to stand for an 8-hour shift.
• Light maintenance knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Grounds & common areas: Sweep sidewalks, terraces, lobbies, and hallways; Empty trash and recycling bins; Respond to spills and safety hazards.
• Cleaning & detailing: Clean and polish floors, glass, mirrors, brass, and woodwork; Deep clean as needed; Maintain laundry room, fitness center, and management offices; Report damage or safety issues.
• Building maintenance support: Clean stairwells, service areas, and compactor room; Change light bulbs; Log tasks using building systems.
• Resident & concierge support: Cover front desk during breaks; Monitor service doors during move-ins; Assist with unit inspections for tours.
• Special projects & events: Set up and clean shared spaces; Support events and logistics; Keep spaces welcoming.
• Sustainability & safety: Keep areas clean and odor-free; Support recycling/compost; Do scent checks; Participate in team meetings and cross-training.

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of the property’s daily presentation—ensuring common areas shine, supporting building operations, and contributing to a seamless living experience. 7:00a - 4:00pm

What You’ll Do:

Grounds & Common Areas

• Sweep sidewalks, terraces, lobbies, and hallways
• Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the building
• Respond quickly to spills, weather-related messes, or other safety hazards

Cleaning & Detailing

• Clean and polish floors, glass, mirrors, brass, and woodwork
• Deep clean as needed (carpet cleaning, grout scrubbing, waxing floors)
• Maintain the laundry room, fitness center, and management offices
• Report any damage or safety issues to the Resident Manager

Building Maintenance Support

• Clean stairwells, service areas, and the compactor room
• Change light bulbs and help prepare units for new residents
• Use building systems to log tasks and report ongoing issues

Resident & Concierge Support

• Cover the front desk during concierge breaks
• Monitor service doors during move-ins and deliveries
• Assist with unit inspections and ensure spaces look great for tours

Special Projects & Events

• Help set up and clean shared spaces like lounges, rooftops, and gyms
• Support building events and gatherings by helping with logistics and cleanup
• Keep shared spaces looking welcoming and refreshed

Sustainability & Safety

• Keep elevators, trash rooms, and amenity areas clean and odor-free
• Support recycling and compost programs
• Perform scent and cleanliness checks to ensure the building feels fresh
• Participate in team meetings and be open to cross-training
