Job summary

Related Management Company is seeking a reliable Janitor/Porter to maintain a clean, welcoming environment for residents and guests across our New York properties. You will contribute to the daily presentation and assist with building operations to ensure a seamless living experience.

The role encompasses grounds, cleaning, and minor maintenance tasks, front-desk coverage during concierge breaks, and support for events.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of prior janitor, cleaner, or porter experience.
• Must be reliable and have experience working with cleaning chemicals.
• Must be a team player and be able to work with little supervision.
• Excellent time management skills and work ethic needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for an 8-hour shift.

Responsibilities

• Grounds & common areas: Sweep sidewalks, terraces, lobbies, and hallways; empty trash and recycling; respond quickly to spills or safety hazards.
• Cleaning & detailing: Clean and polish floors, glass, mirrors, brass, and woodwork; deep clean as needed; maintain laundry room, fitness center, and management offices.
• Building maintenance support: Clean stairwells, service areas, and the compactor room; change light bulbs; log tasks and report issues.
• Resident & concierge support: Cover front desk during concierge breaks; monitor service doors during move-ins and deliveries; assist with unit inspections.
• Special projects & events: Set up and clean shared spaces; assist with logistics and cleanup for events; keep spaces welcoming.
• Sustainability & safety: Keep areas clean and odor-free; support recycling programs; participate in team meetings and cross-training.

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of the property’s daily presentation—ensuring common areas shine, supporting building operations, and contributing to a seamless living experience. Compensation

$20.00/hour

What You’ll Do

Grounds & Common Areas

• Sweep sidewalks, terraces, lobbies, and hallways
• Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the building
• Respond quickly to spills, weather-related messes, or other safety hazards

Cleaning & Detailing

• Clean and polish floors, glass, mirrors, brass, and woodwork
• Deep clean as needed (carpet cleaning, grout scrubbing, waxing floors)
• Maintain the laundry room, fitness center, and management offices
• Report any damage or safety issues to the Resident Manager

Building Maintenance Support

• Clean stairwells, service areas, and the compactor room
• Change light bulbs and help prepare units for new residents
• Use building systems to log tasks and report ongoing issues

Resident & Concierge Support

• Cover the front desk during concierge breaks
• Monitor service doors during move-ins and deliveries
• Assist with unit inspections and ensure spaces look great for tours

Special Projects & Events

• Help set up and clean shared spaces like lounges, rooftops, and gyms
• Support building events and gatherings by helping with logistics and cleanup
• Keep shared spaces looking welcoming and refreshed

Sustainability & Safety

• Keep elevators, trash rooms, and amenity areas clean and odor-free
• Support recycling and compost programs
• Perform scent and cleanliness checks to ensure the building feels fresh
• Participate in team meetings and be open to cross-training
