Job summary

Relay Resources is seeking a dedicated janitorial team member for full-time night shifts in Portland, OR. Responsibilities include cleaning, restroom care, carpet maintenance, and surface cleaning to industry standards.

You will manage tools, follow safety protocols, and support a safe, clean environment for staff and visitors. Required six months of janitorial experience or training, dependable transportation, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and the ability to pass background checks.

Qualifications

  • Six months janitorial experience or training in general cleaning, restroom cleaning, and carpet care.
  • Dependable transportation to work site for attendance.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances for the site.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning schedules (daily/weekly/monthly).
  • Appropriate grooming and hygiene for a professional workplace.
  • Professional interaction with coworkers and customers; appropriate language for the workplace.
  • Ability to take direction from a supervisor.
  • Ability to pass criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting as appropriate.
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision and some independent decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Perform janitorial tasks to meeting industry standards: trashing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, restroom cleaning, carpet care, furniture cleaning, and glass cleaning.
  • Maintain tools/equipment in safe working order and manage storage.
  • Promote safety in the work area and follow emergency procedures and fire safety protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Cleaning –

a. Ensure that all the following tasks are performed to meet janitorial industry standards:

a. Trashing

b. Dusting

d. Sweeping

e. Mopping

f. Cart Maintenance

g. Restroom Cleaning (Showers)

h. Daily carpet spotting

i. Furniture cleaning

j. Glass Cleaning

2. Tools/Equipment –

a. Ensure all tools assigned are in good and safe operating order.

b. Maintain a safe and orderly storage system for tools and supplies.

c. Maintain a working knowledge of materials and equipment used by Relay Resources.

3. Safety and Security –

a. Maintain assigned work area to promote safety and efficiency.

b. Ensure that emergency procedures are followed (i.e. fire alarms, emergencyevacuation)

d. Maintain a working knowledge of fire prevention and reporting procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous training in janitorial field or at least six months work experience in the janitorial field, including the following areas: General Daily Office Cleaning, Restroom Cleaning, Daily Carpet Care and Periodic Cleaning.
  • Must have dependable transportation to work site to maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  • Must be able to obtain necessary security clearances for their site.
  • Must have a working knowledge of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual cleaning schedules.
  • Appropriate grooming and hygiene
  • Appropriate interaction with co-workers, to include appropriate language for the work place.
  • Proper handling of customer requests and complaints with professional interaction.
  • The ability to take direction from supervisor.
  • Ability to pass criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting as appropriate at any time during employment
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision and some independent decision making.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Physical work-walking and/or standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work swing or graveyard hours.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
