Job summary

Related Management Company is hiring a Porter in Chicago to keep common areas clean, assist with move-ins, and maintain high standards for a welcoming building environment.

You will work indoors and outdoors across grounds, common areas, and shared spaces, performing cleaning, light maintenance, and event-support tasks with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• A strong work ethic and a helpful attitude.
• Experience in janitorial, porter, or cleaning roles is a plus.
• Comfort working indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for most of the shift.
• Attention to detail and pride in cleanliness.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweep sidewalks, terraces, lobbies, and hallways.
• Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the building.
• Respond quickly to spills, weather-related messes, or other safety hazards.
• Clean and polish floors, glass, mirrors, brass, and woodwork.
• Deep clean as needed (carpet cleaning, grout scrubbing, waxing floors).
• Maintain the laundry room, fitness center, and management offices.
• Report any damage or safety issues to the Resident Manager.
• Clean stairwells, service areas, and the compactor room.
• Change light bulbs and help prepare units for new residents.
• Use building systems to log tasks and report ongoing issues.
• Help set up and clean shared spaces like lounges, rooftops, and gyms.
• Support building events and gatherings by helping with logistics and cleanup.
• Keep shared spaces looking welcoming and refreshed.
• Keep elevators, trash rooms, and amenity areas clean and odor-free.
• Support recycling and compost programs.
• Perform scent and cleanliness checks to ensure the building feels fresh.
• Participate in team meetings and be open to cross-training.

We're looking for a reliable, hard-working Porter to help keep our community clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone who walks through the door. You'll support the building from the ground up - inside and out - by keeping common areas clean, assisting with move-ins, and helping maintain our high standards. • Compensation: $22.82 / hour

What You'll Do:
