Job Title: Janitor

We are hiring immediately for full-time Janitor positions at Sacred Heart University, located at 5151 Park Ave, Fairfield, CT 06825. Openings at other locations within the school district are also available. Online applications are accepted only.

Schedule: Full-time; days and hours may vary. More details will be provided during the interview. Both full and part-time options are available with flexible scheduling to meet most needs.

Requirements: Prior janitorial experience is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn is appreciated, and training will be provided.

Pay Rate: $16.35 per hour.

Job Summary

The janitor maintains cleanliness and order in buildings by performing heavy cleaning duties such as floor cleaning, rug shampooing, wall and glass washing, and rubbish removal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Disposing of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans.
• Dusting and mopping floors according to procedures.
• Moving and replacing furniture and equipment for cleaning.
• Cleaning assigned areas using appropriate materials and equipment, including sanitizing surfaces and following the eight-step cleaning process.
• Washing walls, windows, furniture, and baseboards to ensure a safe, clean environment.
• Identifying areas needing cleaning and taking initiative to address them.
• Completing tasks assigned by supervisors and adhering to all relevant guidelines.
• Stripping, scrubbing, buffing, and refinishing floors; shampooing carpets.
• Contributing to team efforts and maintaining professionalism.
• Performing additional duties as assigned.
