Job summary

Building Services of America in Mount Prospect, IL is seeking a dedicated Janitor to maintain common areas, floors, restrooms, and entryways across the building portfolio.

The position offers two weekly schedules: Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM or Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, at a pay rate of $18 per hour. Candidates must be bilingual in English and Spanish and able to lift 30–50 lbs. A consistent 32-hour weekly schedule is required.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Good time management and reliability.
• Ability to lift up to 30–50 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Strong communication and professionalism when interacting with residents.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain common areas including lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, and amenity spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces.
• Remove trash and recycling from designated areas and ensure proper disposal.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and high-touch surfaces.
• Monitor building supplies and notify management when restocking is needed.
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and reporting repair needs.
• Maintain cleanliness of exterior entryways and assist with seasonal duties (e.g., snow/ice removal at entrances as needed).
• Follow all safety procedures and building protocols.
