Job summary

Salinas Valley Post Acute in Salinas, CA is hiring a Janitor to join our environmental services team. You will help maintain a clean, safe facility for residents, staff, and visitors, performing floor care, waste disposal, and sanitization tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of floors across the facility, including resident rooms and hallways.
• Dispose waste daily, including trash, recycling, and biohazard bins per regulations.
• Sanitize restrooms and high-touch surfaces to minimize infection risks.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, soap and paper products.
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks and setting up rooms for events.
• Follow safety protocols and OSHA/SDS chemical handling guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain Cleanliness: Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors throughout the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, and hallways.
• Waste Disposal: Empty trash, recycling, and biohazard containment bins daily according to healthcare regulations.
• Sanitization: Clean and disinfect restrooms, high-touch surfaces, fixtures, and clinical spaces to minimize infection risks.
• Supply Management: Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, soap dispensers, and paper products.
• Facility Care: Assist with minor maintenance tasks, floor buffing, and setting up rooms for facility events as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, chemical handling procedures (OSHA/SDS), and healthcare compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Experience: Prior janitorial, custodial, or environmental services (EVS) experience preferred; experience in a healthcare or hospitality setting is a major plus.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs throughout an 8-hour shift.
• Reliability: Strong work ethic, punctuality, and excellent attention to detail.
• Communication: Ability to read instructions, follow safety labels, and interact politely with residents and staff.
• Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening required for healthcare facility employment.
