Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul Baltimore is seeking a reliable janitor to maintain a clean and safe environment inside and outside the Shelter. Daily tasks include cleaning, trash removal, restocking supplies, and basic maintenance to ensure a welcoming facility for program participants and staff.

The role requires 2 years of janitorial experience and strong communication skills to interact with staff and clients respectfully. This is a full-time on-site position supporting various areas of the center.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least 2 years janitorial experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to relate respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily/weekly/monthly janitorial tasks are completed on schedule and bathrooms are stocked.
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors and stairways.
• Empty dining room, kitchen, office and common area trash cans; replace liners.
• Clean windowsills and windows in dining, office, and common areas.
• Clean program participant bathrooms on 2nd and 3rd floors daily.
• Restock supplies in storage rooms and common areas; maintain storage inventory.
• Keep janitor closets clean, organized, and secure; store supplies properly.
• Address weather-related cleaning needs (flooding, snow, ice) as required.
• Assist with general maintenance tasks and event support as needed.

## Description# **SUMMARY**Responsible for providing and maintaining a clean and safe environment both inside and outside of the Shelter on a daily basis. Assure that all janitorial tasks for the building are completed in a satisfactory manner.# **PRIMARY DUTIES*** Assure that Daily/Weekly/Monthly Schedule of janitorial tasks for the building are completed in a satisfactory and timely manner per posted schedule, including ensuring that all staff and common area bathrooms are clean and have sufficient personal supplies on a daily basis.* Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors and stairways.* Empty all dining room, kitchen, office and common area trash cans, clean receptacles and replace liners.* Clean dining room, office and common area windowsills and windows.* Clean program participant's bathroom on second and third floors on a daily basis* Restock supplies in storage rooms and common areas.* Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner.* Store janitorial supplies in proper location maintain inventory of all janitorial supplies and submits order requests to supervisor.* Clean and maintain any weather-related conditions; such as flooding, snow and ice, etc.# **SECONDARY DUTIES*** General maintenance of the grounds.* Observe and inspect building for needed repairs and report needs to Supervisor.* Assist with the receiving of donations, food orders, and other deliveries as needed.* Assist staff with janitorial and maintenance tasks as needed.* Attend and fully participates in all staff meetings as required.* Assist with and attend special events held by the Center and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary.* Uphold the vision, mission, and values of St. Vincent de Paul.* Create an atmosphere of care and respect for clients.* Other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position.## Qualifications# **QUALIFICATIONS*** High School Diploma/GED.* 2 years janitorial experience.* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.* Ability to relate in a courteous, non-judgmental manner with persons from all ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds.* Desire and ability to work as a team player.* Pleasant and courteous telephone manner.# **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS****ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS**\\_\\_X\\_\\_ Primarily Indoor Work**TYPE OF WORK**\\_\\_\\_X\\_\\_MEDIUM WORK: Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds.
