Position SummaryThe Janitor is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of all common areas, H/C Pavilion needs and apartment care, including major floor care projects and trash disposal.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOverall responsibilitiesPerform major housekeeping duties such as cleaning hallways, entrances and common areas as instructed by the Environmental Services ManagerResponsible for floor and carpet maintenance in the apartments, the Health Center, and common areas as assignedMoving furniture from one area to another as needed while cleaningResponsible for recyclable and trash pickup and removal in the Health Center and the apartmentsMop, buff, and strip, and wax floors as assignedArrange table and/or chairs in areas designated for scheduled events.Responsible for mopping, vacuuming and cleaning resident rooms, Health Center dining rooms, and common areas as necessaryResponsible for the clean up and decontamination of blood spills or other potentially infectious waste spills in the H/C Pavilion, apartments, or common areasResponsible for the removal of and packing for pick-up all infectious waste containersWash internal and external windows in common areas when assignedAccomplish all work in the order of priority set by the Housekeeping DirectorMaintain all equipment and supplies in proper conditionNotify supervisor of any equipment problemsResponsible for attending and participating in all drills and in-service meetings when assignedResponsible for the packing, moving, and unpacking, of all household and personal items as needed for resident relocationBreakdown, moving and set-up of all furniture/furnishings, pictures, etc.General ResponsibilitiesAdhere to the policies and procedures of the business with the highest practical standardsParticipate in and maintain current status on all training and education required by the companyCommunicate effectively with all members of the staff, residents and business partnersProvide feedback to others for continuous quality improvement of the entire organizationOpenly accept feedback from others for the continuous quality improvement of the entire organizationEscalate issues when there is appearance that business standards of quality are not presentComply with all rules and regulations of the organization, including HIPAA and safetyPerform other duties as assignedEducation and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Required:GED or equivalent work experienceAbility to interact with residents, family members, visitors and associates frequentlyBasic understanding of sanitation procedures, cleaning chemicals and safety requirementsFlexibility to work evening and/or weekend hoursPreferred:High School diplomaPrevious janitorial experienceEssential Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
