Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services seeks two Jail & Re-Entry Clinician IIs to join the Adult Correctional Services team. The role focuses on behavioral health evaluation and coordination of care for adults in custody.

Responsibilities include discharge planning, DSM-5-TR based assessments, group education, and linkage to community resources. A four-year human services degree and QMHP licensure are required, with grant funding and a potential signing bonus.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year degree in a human services field and three years of relevant experience.
• Must be registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a QMHP or higher licensed mental health professional.
• Experience in behavioral health correctional services and working with adults with serious mental illness or co-occurring disorders.
• Experience using DSM-5-TR for assessments and working with electronic health records.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health screenings for individuals processed into the correctional center.
• Coordinate care with jail staff and medical providers during treatment.
• Develop re-entry plans and discharge planning with linkage to community resources.
