Job summary

The Green County Sheriff's Office is hiring a WPPA Union Full-Time Jailer. Starting pay is $26.67 per hour with night differential and benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, and a deferred compensation plan.

Starting pay can reach up to $30.14 per hour with experience. The Jail Division uses 12-hour rotating shifts, with every other Friday-Sunday off, and offers opportunities such as Honor Guard and specialized training.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 20.
• U.S. citizen
• No disqualifying felonies or domestic violence convictions.
• Good character and sound health for police duties.
• Ability to meet physical performance requirements.
• Vision 20/20 or better with correction.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Residency within 40 miles after probation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety, security and discipline in the jail.
• Intervene to stop disturbances.
• Conduct searches and inspections.
• Surveillance of inmates.
• Take custody of and release inmates.
• Prepare reports and paperwork.
• Rotating twelve-hour shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
