Job summary

Central Counties Services is hiring a Caseworker II to perform complex, journey-level casework in Bell County Jail, Belton, TX. The role involves conducting court-ordered mental health assessments, screening for eligibility, and coordinating access to services.

You will lead psychoeducational groups, support individuals found incompetent to stand trial, and liaise with jail staff, court officials, and community providers, while maintaining strict confidentiality and documentation standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in behavioral sciences, social sciences, humanities, or a related field.
• Meet and maintain the qualifications, training, credentials, and supervision requirements applicable to assigned court-ordered assessments.
• Experience providing casework services, including assessing individual needs and coordinating access to appropriate services and resources.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health assessments pursuant to magistrates’ orders, consistent with qualifications and supervision.
• Screen individuals at intake for eligibility for services through CCS or other behavioral health resources.
• Lead psychoeducational and skills groups for individuals housed in the jail’s mental health pod.
• Meet face-to-face with individuals receiving services to identify psychosocial, economic, and physical needs.
• Document and submit encounters and interventions within 48 hours as required by policy and law.
• Prepare monthly electronic reports documenting mental health interventions.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information per policy.
