Job summary

Bell County in Belton, Texas seeks a qualified individual to join our team. Responsibilities include supervising defendants, reviewing payment delinquencies, preparing letters, and coordinating reporting with local law enforcement and courts.

A high school diploma or Associate degree in social services or related field is preferred; a valid driver’s license is required. The position offers a hourly pay range of $19.20–$24.96 and travel on a limited basis.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in social services, counseling, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
• Two years’ experience with interviewing and report writing desired.
• Ability to interview and counsel; diplomacy and tact required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Post mail to chronological order and prepare letters answering defendant queries.
• Hold initial interviews with new defendants to explain supervision terms and obligations.
• Handle telephone queries from defendants and supervision officers.
• Review delinquencies and write letters to defendants.
• Prepare travel permits and intra-state transmittal letters and update records.
• Check records on monthly dismissals and forward correspondence to defendants and counties.
• Follow up on DWI classes, Life Skills, and Community Service Restitution.
• Prepare dismissal cases and cases for transfer to satellite offices.
• Request offense reports from local police and Department of Public Safety.
• Perform other duties as required.
