The goal of this position is to assist unemployed and underemployed adult learners in attaining the education and work readiness skills needed to prepare them for gaining employment. Retention responsibilities include assuming the role of a Success Coach for students in the program during the academic year. Coaching duties include meeting/contacting students on a regular basis, reviewing progress reports, making referrals and providing a support system to create a strong foundation for academic success. This position will assist in the implementation, recruitment and retention of the Jacobs Presidential Scholars program and special projects as assigned by the Assistant Director.Major ResponsibilitiesRecruitment: Collaborates with faculty in career and technical programs to recruit students for the Jacobs program through classroom presentations, outreach to community organizations, and TMCC recruitment events as requested by the Assistant Director.Retention: Meets one-on-one with Jacobs students to review academic progress, provide referrals, monitor work-readiness tasks, connect students with job preparation services, and track and report student progress.Miscellaneous Duties: Manages reporting required by donors and the TMCC Foundation. Represents the department on campus and community committees related to student success, assists with grant updates, and completes special projects assigned by the Assistant Director.Minimum Qualifications1. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university2. One (1) year of experience providing direct services to students in an educational or nonprofit setting-OR-1. Associates degree a regionally accredited college2. Three (3) years of experience providing direct services to students in an educational or nonprofit setting3. Experience in student recruitment, retention and outreach4. Experience working with either non-traditional student populations, or low-income student populationsPreferred Qualifications1. Experience working in a community college or higher education setting2. Experience providing enrollment, registration, or advising support to a student cohort3. Experience providing coaching and student success strategies4. Experience delivering presentations to students, families, schools, or community groups5.
