Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking an Inductive Voltage Adder (IVA) Engineer to support the Scorpius accelerator project in Los Alamos, NM. The role covers design, integration, testing, operation, and troubleshooting of IVA and related pulsed-power systems.

The candidate will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system performance, reliability, and successful integration with the accelerator. 5+ years in pulsed-power or high-voltage environments are preferred; DOE/NNSA experience a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline is required.
  • 5+ years of experience with pulsed-power, high-voltage, accelerator or related systems.
  • Experience interpreting diagnostic data and conducting electrical analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, analysis, integration, and testing of IVA systems and related pulsed-power components.
  • Perform engineering analysis of high-voltage, high-current, and fast-pulse electrical systems.
  • Support IVA commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and performance improvement activities.
  • Develop and review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, test plans, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Analyze test data to identify performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist integration of IVA hardware with power, controls, diagnostics, mechanical, vacuum, and accelerator subsystems.
  • Participate in design reviews, readiness activities, and configuration changes.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, technicians, and other teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Support safe execution of work involving high-voltage and pulsed-power equipment.
