Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking an Inductive Voltage Adder (IVA) Technician to support the Scorpius accelerator project in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The role focuses on design, integration, testing, operation, and troubleshooting of IVA and pulsed-power systems within a multidisciplinary team.

The candidate will analyze diagnostics, contribute to system readiness, and help optimize performance while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with pulsed-power, high-voltage, accelerator, power electronics, or complex electrical systems.
• Knowledge of high-voltage circuit design, electromagnetic principles, energy storage, switching, or pulse-forming technologies.
• Experience interpreting diagnostic data and developing drawings, calculations, specs, or procedures.
• Ability to work onsite in Los Alamos, NM.

Responsibilities

• Support design, analysis, integration, and testing of IVA systems and pulsed-power components.
• Perform electrical analysis of high-voltage, high-current, fast-pulse systems.
• Support IVA commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and performance improvement.
• Develop and review engineering documentation and test procedures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve issues and meet milestones.
• Ensure safe execution of work involving high-voltage and pulsed-power equipment.
