Job summary

Scotland Health Care System in Laurinburg, North Carolina, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Scotland Retail Pharmacy. The incumbent will verify ingredients with a pharmacist before IV preparation, dispense medications, manage inventory, and support training of new technicians in a patient-centered care setting.

Required PTCB certification, HS diploma or equivalent, and 1 year hospital or 2 years retail experience.

Qualifications

• Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required.
• Minimum of 1 year hospital experience or 2 years retail experience.
• Preferred at hire: Bachelor of Science degree.

Responsibilities

• Call for an RPh to verify active ingredients/diluent before adding to IV bag.
• Set up, package, dispense and deliver unit/multi-dose medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Replenish drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies on patient care units; maintain narcotics records.
• Prepare and package standard bulk formulations as directed.
• Stock supplies and assist in inventory.
• Retrieve discontinued or expired medications and complete related documentation.
• Serve as a training resource for new technicians and assist in evaluating progress.
• Assist in documentation of performance improvement activities under pharmacists' direction.
• Assist other technicians with procedures and tasks.
• Answer phone inquiries and follow up on stocking Omnicells or other tasks.
• Perform other related duties.
• Meet 797 annual requirements timely.
• Scan barcodes into Paragon before new medications are added to stock.
• Barcodes must be scanned into Omnicell before medications may be added.
