Job summary

UNITED Pharmacy Staffing is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician for a contract-to-permanent, on-site role in Barrington, IL. Under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the compounding technician works in a clean room compounding medication at least 50% of the time to ensure safe, accurate operations.

Responsibilities include IV medication preparation, accurate labeling, and collaboration with pharmacists to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to process and handle prescriptions accurately and safely.
• Knowledge of USP 797/800 guidelines.
• Experience working as a pharmacy technician, with familiarity in supporting licensed pharmacists.
• Skills in inventory control, including medication receiving, stocking, and tracking.
• Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and colleagues.
• Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential and current registration/licensure as required by the State of Illinois.
• Understanding of HIPAA, medication safety, and basic pharmaceutical calculations.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
• Prior experience in an IV infusion setting is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies in accordance with client policies & procedures, and in accordance with state regulations & standards.
• Prepares IV medications so they are accurately compounded.
• Performs basic pharmaceutical calculations in order to obtain correct dosages of medications.
• Accurately labels and packages medications.
• Participates in the process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication related incidents.
