Job summary

SpecialtyRx is a Long-Term Care pharmacy expanding its IV services to a new Cook County, Illinois location. The IV Pharmacy Technician supports the IV Manager in daily infusion operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards and state/federal guidelines.

This role emphasizes sterile compounding, dose calculations, and accurate record-keeping, with experience in elastomeric pumps preferred. Strong English communication is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous IV experience REQUIRED.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Understanding of medical terminology, math, and analytical skills.
• Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred (sterile compounding experience a plus).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and fill IV orders, including mixing IV medications, calculating doses, and applying sterile compounding techniques.
• Send supplies and equipment to facilities as needed.
• Maintain accurate IV compounding and mixing records.
• Program infusion pumps accurately and safely.
• Enter data for all applicable IV orders.
• Order supplies from approved vendors.
• Complete technician assignments as directed by pharmacy management.
• Maintain IV pharmacy equipment and supplies in the equipment rental log.
• Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of client services, policies, and procedures.
• Follow and help enforce safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in special projects focused on operational improvements.
• Collaborate with team members in a professional and productive manner while meeting departmental needs.
