Job summary

The Cancer Center of South Florida Pharmacy department seeks a Pharmacy Technician to perform IV medication preparation, compounding, and distribution, including chemotherapy and supportive therapies. Tasks are performed under supervision of a registered pharmacist or nurse to ensure accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities include verifying orders, maintaining inventory, documenting dispensing activity, and ensuring compliance with USP 797/800 and HIPAA regulations, with emphasis on patient safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy technician role, with oncology or sterile compounding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, compound, and dispense IV medications including chemotherapy and supportive agents per physician orders.
• Verify prescription orders, patient details, EMR documentation, and authorization prior to dispensing.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels through proper ordering and stock management in electronic systems.
• Document and reconcile daily dispensing activity and waste tracking; perform weekly inventory counts and hood/terminal cleanings.
• Support prescription processing and refill coordination for infusion appointments and related prescriptions.
• Ensure compliance with USP 797/800 and HIPAA and internal protocols for patient safety and data privacy.
