Job summary

Texas Oncology in Denison is seeking a Pharmacy Technician (IV Admixture) for a full-time, Monday–Friday schedule (8:30am–5:00pm). No weekends, no major holidays. This role supports IV admixture in a clinic/pharmacy setting and reports to the Pharmacy Department.

The candidate will have IV compounding responsibilities and be part of a large oncology network. The ideal candidate has IV admixture experience and a pharmacy background, with potential progression to Level 1, 2, or Sr based on

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Entry-level experience in a pharmacy.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate recommended unless required by state law.
• IV sterile compounding experience highly preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
• IV certification preferred.
• Minimum five years of experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
• Oncology background preferred or extensive IV preparation experience.
• Completion of an ASHP accredited program or community college-based program recommended.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing under supervision.
• Check all orders for completeness and verify patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Admix drugs as ordered by a physician in an accurate and timely manner, adhering to department guidelines.
• Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Assist in controlled substance record keeping in accordance with practice guidelines, state and federal regulations.
• Dispose of materials used in mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs in accordance with practice guidelines.
• Clean hoods daily, check drugs monthly for outdates, and perform quality assurance activities.
• Maintain accurate temperature logs and logs for protocol and patient assistance drugs.
• Manage inventory with proper documentation of lot numbers and expiration dating.
• Provide support across the medication use continuum including label preparation, basic data entry and pre-billing review, and order medications and supplies as directed.
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the admixture area and the pharmacy department in accordance with state rules and USP compliance.
