Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools in Silver Spring seeks a Paraeducator Level II for Roscoe Nix Elementary School. The itinerant role provides one-on-one support to a student to meet IEP accommodations and goals; the paraeducator moves with the student if locations change.

The position is part-time (.812 FTE) for 65 hours bi-weekly over 10 months. Requirements include the ParaPro assessment or equivalent and certain education credits or degree as outlined in the MCPS description.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s preferred; coursework in education such as behavior management.
• One year of experience with students in structured educational settings preferred.
• ParaPro assessment with a qualifying score (455+) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to meet IEP accommodations and goals.
• Move with the student to different locations as needed.
• Assist with instructional and classroom management supports.
• Support students with behavioral, social, emotional, and physical needs.
• Perform clerical tasks to support teachers and staff.
