Job summary

The Louisiana Special School District in Baton Rouge seeks an itinerant special education instructor for the upcoming school year. This is an Unclassified-Regular, full-time, 12-month position located at the Central Office for SSP in Baton Rouge.

Holders of a valid Louisiana teaching certificate, or a valid out-of-state certificate, are eligible. An alternative certification candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and be enrolled in an approved program; official transcripts are required at hire.

Qualifications

• Holds a valid Louisiana teaching certificate.
• Holds a current teaching certificate from another state.
• Holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree; enrollment in an approved alternative teacher prep program may be required.
• Official transcripts must be submitted to verify credentials prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and provide rigorous instructional experiences for students using a total approach that includes academics, communication, vocational, motor, self-help and social skills.
• Track student progress, reflect on outcomes, and adjust strategies to ensure academic growth; align goals with COMPASS rubric components.

This is an Unclassified-Regular Position - Full time 12-month position.

This position is located at the Central Office for SSP in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
