Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supports the school system's vision, goals and priorities.
• Presents lessons or parts of lessons to students and checks work.
• Assists students with books, computers, and classroom materials.
• Keeps routine records related to attendance, grades, and behavior.
• Transfers students on and off buses and assist devices.
• Assists with toileting and hygiene tasks as needed.
• Supports movement of students with special needs (positioning, lifting, transferring).
• Assists with meals, serves food, and helps feeding as needed.
• Maintains discipline and encouraging appropriate behavior.
• Assists in crisis intervention and follows approved procedures.
• Facilitates use of mobility equipment (braces, walkers, etc.).
• Assists with field trips and bus discipline.
• Provides adult assistance on special education buses as assigned.
• Helps direct activities and acts as play leader for groups.
• Performs basic health/first aid per school nurse directions.
• Maintains confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Reports problems and unusual events to supervisors promptly.
• Works with supervisor and staff to implement the system's goals.
• Participates in professional growth and ethical leadership.
